I woke up this morning and I drove to work
And I cursed this life for the way it works
Spending all my time working this old job
Just to get back to what I love
And I made a couple dollars and I paid the bills
But it always gets me thinking about the way it feels
To see you growing small in my rear view
And it doesn't make sense at all

Look at your life is it a life to live
Or is it work, sleep, and fighting with the kids
Sometimes it makes me think that we should grab the boys
Leave it all and just skip town
If it's the house that holds you back
Well then I'll burn it down
If it's the dog then I'll drop her outside of town
If its the car then tonight I gonna roll it off a cliff

If there's a time for peace and a time for war
Then there's a time for me to walk out the door
Stick my finger out the window as I drive away
Straight home to your pretty face
Pack up the boys and we'll hit the road
We could be to the beach in a day or so
When you think about it, it doesn't make much sense
But it makes a lot of sense to me
I guess that what I'm saying is it's such a crime
We spend our lives trying to make a dime
In the end we just want more time with the ones we love
But we never seem to question we just walk the line
In the end maybe it's just a waste of time
I don't want to spend my life building walls on sinking sand
